Purchase Supplemental Liability, Personal Accident and Personal Effects Insurance
Verify Your Rental Operator Participation
Supplemental Liability Insurance is excess liability insurance that protects you and any authorized driver, as defined in the rental agreement, against third party automobile claims for bodily injury and property damage caused during permitted use of the rental vehicle. The rental agreement may provide some minimum protection for third party liability.
S.L.I. Provides you with the following benefits:
- With respects to Recreational Vehicles - Up to a maximum combined aggregate limit of one million ($1,000,000) per occurrence. Coverage is provided for bodily injury and property damage only, property damage is limited to a maximum of $50,000, inclusive of any other valid insurance, and is included in the total aggregate liability limit. Coverage is provided for third party liability losses resulting from the use of the rented or shared recreational vehicle by an authorized driver (renter/sharer or authorized driver listed on the rental or sharing contract agreement) as provided for under the terms of this agreement. Policy limits are maximum combined aggregate limits that attach (pay) after all other valid and collectible insurance policies which include, but are not limited to, the renter's/sharer's/driver's personal auto insurance'.
- With respects to Motorcycles/Powersports Vehicles - Up to a maximum combined aggregate limit of $3000,000 per occurrence. Coverage is provided for bodily injury and property damage only, property damage is limited to a maximum of $10,000, which is included in the Aggregate Limit. Coverage is provided for third party liability losses resulting from the use of the rented or shared motorcycle/powersports vehicle by an authorized driver (renter/sharer or authorized driver listed on the rental or sharing contract agreement) as provided for under the terms of this agreement. Policy limits are in excess of any/all valid and collectible insurance, including but not limited to the renter/sharer's personal auto insurance.
- THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE "UNINSURED MOTORIST", "UNDERINSURED MOTORIST", "SUPPLEMENTARY NO FAULT", PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION OR ADDITIONAL PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION OR ANY OTHER STATUTORY COVERAGE TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW; WE AND YOU HEREBY REJECT THE INCLUSION OF ANY SUCH COVERAGE. In the event that such coverage is imposed by law, the limits of such coverage will be the minimum required by law of the jurisdiction in which the accident occurs.
IF AN ACCIDENT RESULTS FROM THE USE OF THE RENTAL/SHARED RECREATIONAL VEHICLE, EITHER YOUR INSURANCE OR THE INSURANCE OF THE RENTAL VEHICLE COMPANY WILL BE PRIMARY. This means that we will not grant any defense or indemnity protection under this paragraph if either You or the Car Rental Company are covered by any other valid and collectible automobile liability insurance, whether primary, excess or contingent, with limits at least equal to the minimum required by the state financial responsibility law where the accident occurs, unless and/or until said limits are exhausted by payment. Further, You warrant that such insurance coverage is effective and continuous throughout the term of the Rental/Sharing Contract Agreement.
We warrant that the protection described in Paragraph "A" above is excess with respect to any insurance coverage You or any Authorized Driver may have including the coverage agreed to in Paragraph "B" above. THIS PROTECTION IS VOID IF THERE IS NO UNDERLYING PRIMARY COVERAGE PROVIDED BY YOU OR THE RENTAL COMPANY. THIS PROTECTION IS VOID IN MEXICO. THE RENTAL/SHARED RECREATIONAL VEHICLE MAY NOT BE DRIVEN INTO MEXICO WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING SPECIFIC WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM US AND OBTAINING INSURANCE VALID IN MEXICO, WHICH IS AVAILABLE AT THE BORDER
You and all Authorized Drivers will indemnify and hold Us, Our agents and employees (INCLUDING BROWN & BROWN OF KENTUCKY, INC. C/O MBA INSURANCE DIVISION, THE CARRIER - A.T.I.G., AND THE BILLING COORDINATOR: CAR RENTAL ASSOCIATION, INC., ITS EXECUTIVES, AGENTS AND EMPLOYEES) harmless from and against any loss, liability and expense, in excess of the limits as described in Section A, Part 1) or or beyond the scope of the protection provided for above, arising from the use or possession of the Rental/Shared Recreational Vehicle by You or by any Authorized Operator.
Coverage is void and not effective if You violate the terms and/or conditions of the Rental/Sharing Contract Agreement or if Rental/Shared Recreational Vehicle was obtained through the use of fraudulent means or information
Renter/Shared accepts or declines Coverage at rate included in this web site and in the material provided to You. Acceptance is proof of Coverage under Policy issued to Lessor as outlined in this document. The SLI insurance program is offered by an independent insurance company. The insurance premium, administration fee and/or service fee, if any, are included in the daily rental rate as stated in these forms.
SLI provides Supplemental third-party liability insurance for Recreational Vehicles at limits excess of state required minimum financial responsibility limits, in an aggregate amount equal to $1,000,000.00 (one million) less the Required Minimum Amount and any other valid and collectible insurance. The Limit of $1,000,000.00 is for third party (non-passenger) claims and is excess to all other valid, applicable and collectible insurances, including but not limited to personal auto, credit card coverage and primary insurance policies held by the rental company. Coverage is limited to $50,000.00 for property damage liability claims and is included in the aggregate limit. This policy excludes coverage for passenger liability, where applicable by law, and provides a maximum limit of $50,000.00 in all other jurisdictions. With respects to Motorcycles/Powersports vehicles, the aggregate liability limit is reduced to $300,000 and the property damage limit is reduced to $10,000. Customer accepts SLI in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SLI policy, available for review upon request.
Personal Accident Insurance
Accidental Death provides 24-hour accident protection to the primary renter/sharer and their immediate family for a death while traveling in the rented/shared recreational vehicle during the entire period of the Rental/Sharing Contract Agreement. Passengers are protected only while in, boarding or alighting from designated recreational vehicle. Limited coverage for:
- Renter Loss of life $50,000
- Passenger loss of life $5,000
The maximum total benefit that shall be payable in the aggregate for all covered persons per occurrence is $55,000 regardless of the number of persons.
Accidental Medical Expense
Accidental Medical Expense provides you, your passengers and your immediate family with $1,000.00 of 24-hour accidental medical expense coverage while in, boarding or alighting from the designated recreational vehicle for emergency medical expenses and ambulance fees.
Personal Effects Insurance
Personal Effects Coverage provides limited coverage for your personal belongings from loss or damage caused by theft of, damage to, or accident involving your rental/shared recreational vehicle. Personal Effect Coverage provides reimbursement for the actual cash value of the items subject to certain maximum, deductibles, limitations and exclusions.
Personal Effects Coverage protects Your personal belongings as the primary renter/sharer and those of Your immediate family traveling with You. The maximum Personal Effects Coverage Amount per rental/sharing contract is $525.00, which is subject to a per claim deductible of $25.00. The aggregate limit is $500 per rental/sharing contract. Coverage is subject to one claim per rental/sharing contract period.
The items not covered are: securities, currency, deeds, artificial teeth or bridges, documents, tickets, eyeglasses/contact lens, prosthetic limbs, automobiles, automobile equipment, animals, motorcycles, motorcycle equipment, motorized boats, motors, other conveyances, perishables, bullion, household furniture. Loss or damage occurring through wear and tear or gradual deterioration, insects or vermin, inherent vice or damage, and "mysterious disappearance" are not covered.
If You violate the terms, conditions or use restrictions of the rental/sharing contract agreement, this coverage is void and no coverage is provided for primary or excess losses whether or not language in the rental/sharing agreement states coverage is available.
You indemnify and agree that coverage for bodily injury or property damage sustained by You or relatives, as defined, residing with You or by any authorized driver and/or relatives residing with them applies to certain coverage only (PAI or PEI). All other coverages such as: uninsured motorist, underinsured motorist, first party benefits, no-fault, supplemental no-fault, personal injury protection or additional personal injury protection or other liability insurance that is optional or can be waived or rejected are waived and rejected.
If You fail to accept any of the coverage at the start of the rental, if there is a failure to pay the charges due by You or the rental operator and if the vehicle is obtained though misrepresentation, coverage is voided.
Exclusions include claims regarding: Fines, penalties, punitive or exemplary damages; Suicide or any attempt while sane or insane; intentionally self-inflicted injuries or any attempt at it sickness; disease or bacterial infection of any kind or phylogenesis; Infections which occur as a result of an injury; bacterial infection; attempt to commit a felony; participation or engaging in an act of violence, civil disobedience, civil disorder, riot or insurrection; injury sustained while the covered person is riding in or on any aircraft; hernia unless resulting from a covered accident; participation in professional team sports or other professional athlete activities; being under the influence of any intoxicant or narcotic unless administered on the advice of a physician; dental treatment except as the result of injury to sound natural teeth; replacement eyeglasses or eye examination for the correction of vision; pregnancy or complications thereof or resulting childbirth.

State Law - State laws may prohibit or modify the optional products offered. Any offer or description of benefits is void where prohibited by law.
How to Make A Claim - All claims on S.L.I. must be made immediately upon notice of the incident or accident giving rise to the claim. Any claims received after a 30-day period of Your knowledge of a claim, may be denied. All claims must include: an accident report, a police report, a claim form as obtained from the vehicle rental location, and a copy of the rental/sharing agreement as rendered at the rental/sharing location. All of these documents may be sent to the above indicated address for forwarding to the insurance company. You will be contacted directly by an independent claims adjusting company.
Important Notice - The purchase of any of the coverage described herein may duplicate, void or alter existing coverage. Rental company employees cannot interpret or advise You on what the policy may or may not cover. If You purchase Supplemental Liability Coverage or Personal Accident/Personal Effects protection, various credit card benefits, insurance death benefits, personal automobile insurance policy, homeowner's insurance policy or other sources of coverage may provide duplicate coverage. The protection provided herein (SLI, PAI and PEI) is excess and can only be attached after all other valid and collectible insurances have been exhausted by payment. Policies and coverage terms and wording vary and Rental Personnel cannot advise You concerning other coverage that may or may not be applicable.
Availability of Coverages Described: Federal, state or local law may limit, vary or entirely prohibit the terms, conditions, or coverage. Any offer described herein is void if prohibited by law.
